Meteora, old monasteries

Meteora is a fascinating place. I was able to record a little a do a small vlog portraying the amazing views I encounter.

With what I recorded during the trip I was able to create a little vlog.

Meteora region is amazing with all it’s old monasteries on top of pillars and small stone mounts. This monasteries were built in the 14th century and most of them are still well preserved and accessible.

I went to Greece to attend a wedding me and my parents were invited to. The wedding itself was an incredible, once in a life time event that we were lucky enough to be invited to and attend. But before the wedding, as we arrived a couple of days ahead, we rented a car and drived to Kalambaka from near Thessaloniki. We spent one night in the town so we had two days to visit most monasteries of the region and they were amazing. It’s astonishing that structures were built at that time on those locations. The monasteries are not only well preserved but some of them renovated to accomodate turism.

There is a couple of hikking trails as well that start from the town. Some well marked and, of course the one I did early in the morning, some kind of “follow the arrow painted in rocks and trees if you can spot them“ type of trail. It run through the mountain directly to get to the nearest monastery to the town. Highly recommend it if you have the opportunity.

Izmir’s Agora is an amazing place to transport yourself to another time. Walking its halls, crossing under its arcs, becoming aware of the fact that natural water still flows to this day makes your imagination go wild.
